The mission of the Athletics program is to organize, fund, supervise, and promote athletic teams and provide athletic opportunities to the students of Saint Mary Academy or for the children who attend religious programs at Saint Bernadette.
The athletics program is a ministry of Saint Bernadette Parish and is governed under the guidelines established by the volunteers on the Athletic Board in conjunction with the Catholic School Athletic Association (CSAA).
As a participant, parent, or coach, you agree to comply with all policies and procedures set forth by the CSAA and the Athletic Board. Each participant, parent, and coach must review the CSAA Handbook and the Saint Mary Athletics Bylaws. All volunteers must complete the Archdiocese of Louisville SAFE Environment training.
The Athletic Board, as well as team coaches, are made up of volunteers from the school and parish. The Athletics program is supported by fundraising activities throughout the year, most specifically the annual lenten fish fry. This financial support subsidizes the athletics program in an attempt to reduce the sports fees paid by each participant and fund facility maintenance and sports equipment needs. In order to sustain the program the Athletic Board has implemented a volunteer policy.
Sports programs are offered consistent with the timelines and calendar disclosed on the CSAA website.
APPARELSports apparel is available for purchase twice a year. Allow 3-4 weeks for delivery to school after ordering. All orders require a child homeroom designation.
VOLUNTEER POLICYAll SMA and Saint Bernadette families participating in Athletic Programs must volunteer one time at an athletic game or hosted event, for each season your child plays sports. Seasons are defined as Fall, Winter, and Spring/Summer and result in a maximum of three (3) volunteer requirements per family. By confirming this agreement you are acknowledging your responsibility for meeting the Athletic volunteer requirement. If your family should not volunteer the required amount of times per season played, then you agree to pay $100 per unfulfilled Athletic volunteer requirement up to a maximum of $300.
