We have been part of the SMA family since its inception. I went to grade school at Mother of Good Counsel and then became a teacher at MGC in 1999. My husband and I, along with Teresa Butler, started the first Archery Team in Jefferson County at MGC. From there, our son started MGC and when he entered 8th grade he became the first graduating class from the newly formed Saint Mary Academy. I continued teaching at Saint Mary until 2015. I moved to another Catholic school for a few years, only to return to Saint Mary this past fall. Both of our children, who are 29 and 30 attended Catholic schools, graduating from Assumption and Trinity.
SMA has offered my family a great foundation for faith formation, helping our children grow spiritually, academically and socially. As both a teacher and coach at SMA, we saw students grow in all facets of their life. We continue to see them shine now as adults. Saint Mary has continued to grow students of excellence and is a reason we have stayed involved all these years and why I wanted to return this year. Saint Mary Academy is family, where students are loved and where education and faith formation continues to be of the highest caliber.
