As a graduate of Mother of Good Counsel myself, I didn't hesitate to enroll my four daughters in MGC upon return to Louisville. With the changes and mergers, it ends up that two of my daughters graduated from MGC, and the younger two graduated from Saint Mary Academy. I was on the first School Board tasked with merging the two schools and soon was asked to be on the building committee of Saint Bernadette Church. As Chair of the Capitol Campaign which followed this huge build, my family and I were bent on its success.... not only in the numbers of students, but on the Catholic impact this campus would have in Louisville. Change is never easy, but I truly believe that Saint Mary Academy is flourishing based not only on its roots but the quality of education and its Catholic Identity.
Three years ago, I accepted a position as "Neighbor Care Coordinator" and I've used this position to connect the skill set of our parishioners to the needs of this community. I've been able to share our good works with the students and to challenge them to seek out the most vulnerable and to help in any way they are able. My favorite part of my week is offering the Eucharist to the students at the weekly school mass. I pray for them to allow God to work in their hearts, in their families and in their future lives...Saint Mary Academy is an exciting place that is truly preparing the whole child to make the world a better place.
