Requests for Time/Talent/Treasure Solicitation in the Narthex

Thank you for your interest and willingness to organize an Outreach event at Saint Bernadette Parish. We are very blessed to be part of such an amazing community of people that are so willing to donate their time, treasures, and talents. Outreach is an integral and vital part of our parish life and we appreciate the countless efforts that go into putting these events together.

In order to prevent the “sharing” of time, talent, and treasure from hindering one’s feeling of fellowship at Saint Bernadette by an overabundance of solicitations, the Pastoral Council under the Charitable Outreach Committee has set some guidelines.

By being sensitive to the effects on our parishioners of the timing and number of events, we hope that together as parishioners the support for our spiritual needs will be primary.

Below is a list of guidelines for solicitation and sign-ups within Saint Bernadette Parish.

• Solicitation is defined as sign-ups, buying, selling, or the exchange of donations of money or goods for any ministry or organization.
• Requests should be submitted on the Parish Time/Talent/Treasure Solicitation form which is available here or by filling the online form below.  The completed forms should be placed in the collection basket or left with the receptionist at the Parish Center, at least two months prior to the event. For unforeseen circumstances, the committee or the Pastor may waive the time limits. 
• Any sign-ups and solicitations will be assigned a location by the Charitable Outreach Committee and will be away from the Church worship space (in the Narthex or outdoors, weather permitting) and volunteers should conduct themselves in a quiet non-intrusive manner so as to not make anyone feel obliged or pressured to participate. 
• No active solicitations may be made before Mass.
• Ideas submitted for sign-ups, solicitation, and fundraising will also be reviewed to ensure they can be carried out safely.
• Groups requesting sign-ups, soliciting, and fundraising activities must be a formal ministry of the parish or be an officially chartered group within Saint Bernadette and be consistent with the practices and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
• Sign-ups, solicitations, and fundraising requests, which have gone through the proper channels and have been approved, may be listed in the bulletin. No separate flyers may be placed in bulletins.
