House Program

Saint Mary Academy has a House program for our middle school students. The purpose of this program is to re-energize our middle school students, promote school spirit, increase student involvement, build peer connections, and strengthen teacher-student relationships. 

Sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students are divided into ten mixed-level Houses named after a Saint. One teacher mentor will oversee each house with weekly meetings being led by two eighth-grade leaders. 

At House meetings, students work together to participate in service opportunities, team-building, friendly competitions, mentoring time with goal setting and time with their Little Buddies. Points are earned for their House by participating in named school events, House competitions and by receiving praise note cards.  

The winning House earns a special field trip and the rights to the House Cup for the year!

Houses participate in a Day of Serving as well. On April 15th the entire Middle School embarked on the 2nd annual service adventure in our community. They divided into House groups and went to Dare to Care, WaterStep, Catholic Charities, Community Catholic, St. Vincent DePaul, Love City, Jefferson Manor and Hallmark House to be the hands of God. When they returned from school, they all took some time to reflect on their experience and the people they served and created a presentation so all of the Houses could hear about the different opportunities. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the season of Lent.
